The SMARTMind Study
A SMARTphone-based Monitoring of Momentary Impulsivity and Self-injury in Youth with ADHD
The purpose of this study is to investigate how thoughts and feelings interact over time in adolescents with a history of both attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and self-injury. Using a smartphone-based app, we will capture in-the-moment thoughts and emotions in adolescents.
If you are interested in participating, please fill out the screening form by clicking this link or scanning the QR code below.
Help us learn how thoughts and behavior interact in adolescents with ADHD
If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete the following:
An initial 60-minute visit (in-person at the University of Minnesota or over Zoom) where we will obtain informed parental consent and conduct a clinical assessment with the adolescent participant
For the next 6 weeks, participants will receive daily prompts to fill out two 5-10 minute surveys and complete a task. The prompts will be delivered through an app participants will download on their smartphone. Prompts will be sent outside of school hours.
A final 30-minute followup visit at the end of the 6 weeks where an additional clinical assessment will be conducted.
Participants will be compensated up to $275 for their participation:
Initial visit compensation will be $20
Participants will receive $5 each day that they complete at least one survey
Participants completing more than 85% of the surveys will receive an additional $25 at study completion
Final visit compensation will be $20
